Royal Chundu Kids

We are thrilled to announce our new Bricks & Barters Fundraiser – a project to raise funds for bricks to build a bigger and better school at Royal Chundu on the banks of the Zambezi River in Zambia, to grow from our current 50 students to 500.

We started the Royal Chundu Foundation School for the children of our staff members, so that they would be close by and still receive a high level of education. The school slowly grew to include the children from our neighbouring villages that we work intimately with at Royal Chundu.

We began with a mere 10 children. Two years later, our teachers and Headmistress Luckie Siamoonga educate over 50 students – up to three grades of children, from four to six years, and do so using the educational benefits of modern technology – on tablets with the Zambian curriculum.

We Need Your Help

To raise funds for this project we are appealing to you, guests, suppliers, partners, travellers, companies, individuals, young and old – everyone around the globe can play a part in this, our Bricks & Barters Fundraiser.

In the name of offering quality education, close to home, to even more people in the local area around us, we hope to school around 500 kids a year in the new building, from early education to 12th grade, with an adult literacy programme, online hospitality programme and a culinary school, linked to the chefs at Royal Chundu. Children will also be provided with a healthy breakfast and lunch each day.

How You Can Help

1.  Buy a Brick

Donate money for bricks using Generosity to start the building process off. Donate as little or as much as you can, anonymously or named, for ten bricks or a thousand, whatever possible. Each person who donates will get a plaque with their name on a physical wall in the new school.

2.  Barter for Bricks

Donate your time for something good and we will buy a brick for you for your efforts. Read a book at an old-age home, offer to help at a soup kitchen, do something, do anything. Send us a photo of your good deed to add to our Wall of Wings – initially to be a digital wall on our website, followed by a plaque on a physical wall of the school once built.

We’d also love you to post your photo to social media, whether Twitter, Instagram or Facebook with @royalchundu and #theroyalchunduexperience #brickbybrick in the caption.

If everyone does a little bit of good for someone else, the power of that collective good has the potential to change lives. We believe in the power of doing good and in paying it forward. The so-called “butterfly effect” – as coined by Edward Lorenz – the concept that small causes can have large effects. We want to do something that has an impact greater than us, to get the world’s butterfly wings flapping.

We will update you on the process through our blog and social media. Please contact us should you have any questions. Email: reservations@royalchundu.com | Tel: +27 13 751 1038
