Best

There are many ways to explore the Zambezi River, but only two ways to approach it. With caution and respect. Think of it as a wild horse. With all its beauty and allure, it is still wild. It does bite. But if you follow the rules, it’s an experience that defines a life.

Our advice? 1. Do not sneak up on it, out of the blue. – Be prepared. Take a raincoat to the Victoria Falls. 2. Pay attention to its body language. It’s an animal of varied moods. Act accordingly. – The river changes throughout the year, rising around May after the summer rains and dropping from October through to November. But each season brings something new, a different experience. Around June and July, the Falls roar thunderously and are no doubt at their most awesome, but the drier end of the year opens up the Devil’s Pool and with the spray subsiding you can truly see the geography of the wonder clearly. It also reveals unexpected sandbanks along the river, calling us to set up new picnic spots and beach dinners.

From our home on the banks, we consider ourselves the river’s wranglers, reigning it in so that you can encounter its magnificence.
