Okavango Delta

The largest inland waterway in the world

The epitome of remote

Easily accessible from Royal Chundu, the Okavango Delta, in the north-west of Botswana, is one of Africa’s most precious wilderness areas. A destination wildlife flock to throughout the year – African bush elephant and hippo alongside lechwe, tsessebe and sitatunga; fierce predators alongside over 400 species of birds. It is made up of a 6,000-square-mile maze of lagoons, channels, and islands, an intricate network fed by “the river which never finds the sea”, the Okavango River. In the heart of this waterway is Chief’s Island, home to the Moremi Game Reserve – the first wildlife area to be set aside by tribal people rather than the colonials of the past and the only place in Botswana where the Big 5 can be found. Experience the Delta on a land or water safari, on game drives or mokoro trips, from some of Africa’s finest safari lodges and camps.
